Peeler

The moment I spotted this strange peeler I knew it was for peeling white asparagus. Don’t know who figure out how to tackle the task, but this works perfectly and not really certain why.. Can you imagine the fat stalk of white asparagus between the two parts?

New Address

One surprise of the past months, was the need to find another place to call home. Without preamble, the landlord from whom I was renting, informed me she wanted her house off the rental market and within a short time frame. Her decision, without warning in an extremely tight rental market in a small city was a shock. It was six weeks of extreme stress to find a new home. This new home is right next door to the old address. It would appear that I just “stepped’ next door, but in fact it was a huge circle to come back to the place where I started.

Where I am now – Dutch door and all

.

Where I was – right next door.

Surprise

This pretty much describes what happened between the last post of 29 March and today 1 November. But it’s all good. Still living happily in the City by the water. Happy with friends far and wide, neighbors and family. Will keep you informed as before on life in The Netherlands.

VOTED

A FIRST. Voted in an election in a country other than the USofA. Was well informed and the process was simple. The shocker was the ballot box: a standard trash can fitted with a sliding lock on top and the lid secured with a padlock. When I expressed surprised, the nice person monitoring the process said it had done service already for years. I suggested it was a dubious visual!
